SWAIN, Patricia Ann

The family of Patricia Ann Swain, 79, sadly announce her passing on July 1, 2021 at Hillside Pines in Bridgewater, NS with family at her side.

Patsy was born in Shag Harbour, NS to the late Kathleen and Malcolm Cuming. She spent most of her life in Bridgewater, NS working as a hairdresser, fulltime mother and in later years with her son, brother and sister-in-law at her brother’s business. Patsy was a kind and loving soul who was always concerned about the wellbeing of her family and friends. Voicing an unpopular opinion about others (if she ever had one) was not her way. She worked tirelessly to support her family her whole life. She gave enormous emotional support and love to her boys, their spouses and especially her grandchildren.

Patsy was predeceased by her husband John of 52 years in 2019.

She is survived by her sons Eric (Jolyn), Halifax, and Christopher (Corinne), Bridgewater, siblings Margaret Withrow (James), Halifax, Robert Cuming (Jane), Bridgewater, and brother-in-law Robert Swain (Louise) of Port Mouton. She is also survived by the grandsons she adored, Samuel and Malcolm Swain, Halifax, and her nieces, great-nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratefulness to Dr. Timothy Riding for his care over the years and more recently Dr. Weagle and Nurse Practitioner Matt Naugler. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for the attention provided to Patsy by the entire care team at Hillside Pines. Special thanks also to Hillside Pines during the palliative period for making Patsy’s boys a home away from home so they could be with their mother during her last weeks. Thank you to Pastor Fran Boutlier of Holy Trinity Anglican Church for leading prayer for Mom both when she was home and at Hillside Pines.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of RA Corkum Funeral Home. Service and internment for both Patsy and husband John will be at Brookside Cemetery in Bridgewater at a later date. No flowers by family request please. Donations may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater or SHAID Tree Animal Shelter. In lieu of donations Patsy would appreciate you doing a random act of kindness for someone that needs it.
