LEBLANC, Eileen Mary (Cody) (Pelham)

2017-04-21

(77) passed away peacefully on April 21, 2017, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. Born July 30, 1939, to Thomas James and Mary Eunice (Ross) Cody in Manchester, Guysborough County, she was the third of nine children. Eileen was industrious and a very hard worker. Her career spanned decades, from teaching school in a one-room schoolhouse to Sears Administration to various positions with Statistics Canada and providing home care. Eileen's commitment to her community was expressed in her volunteer work with the NDP (she was passionate about politics!) and the Royal Canadian Legion, of which she was a life-time member. Eileen enjoyed time with her family and her wide circle of friends, as well as knitting, gardening and was a ferocious reader. She kept an immaculate household. Eileen is survived by her daughters, Janet Rimmington (Luke), Sandra Were (Philip) and her beloved grandchildren, Christina MacDonald (Nick), Alexander Rimmington and Max Rimmington. She was predeceased by her second husband, Paul. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Internment at a later date. If so desired, donations may be made in Eileen's memory to the QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164, Eastern Passage. http://www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
