It is with great sadness that the family of Marion Mayola Conrad, 88, of Bayport, announces her passing after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Born in Pine Grove on October 11, 1932, and raised in Maitland, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Olive Oickle. In her earlier years, Marion worked at National Sea Products and Riverport Seafoods and then at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family, cooking, baking and gardening. She is survived by daughters, Arlene Shepherd, St. Stephen, NB; Roxanne Barry (Archie Larkin), Bridgewater; Cathy Dicks, Dartmouth; Gwen (Ron) Tanner, Tanner’s Settlement; Angela Barry (Wade Sonnichsen), Bayport; two sons, Seward Barry, Bridgewater; Daniel Conrad (Lori Gurney), Crouse’s Settlement; brother, Richard Oickle, Maitland; grandchildren, Stacey (Frank) McKay, Halifax; Cynthia (Craig) Chapman, First South; Katie Grimm, Martin’s Point; Matthew (Michelle) Tanner, Dartmouth; Megan Tanner (Norm), AB; Nigel Shepherd (Amanda), Kyle (Marcey)Shephard, both of New Brunswick and Jamie Conrad (Chris Williams), Bayport; great-grandchildren, Riley Chapman, First South; Emersyn Shepherd, NB; Serenity Grimm, Martin’s Point and Landon Tanner, Dartmouth. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Mark in 1999, daughter, Daphnee in 2008, a sister, Jean and several siblings in infancy. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11211 Highway 3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held at the Bayport Cemetery, Bayport at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society or to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosedale Nursing Home who was so caring and compassionate to Marion while she was a resident of the home for the past five years. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
