85, passed away peacefully November 2, 2018, with family by her side at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater, NS. Born in Mill Village, Queens County, on February 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Martha (Rhyno) Nauss. Shirley and Chester brought up their family in Sudbury, ON. Upon Chester's retirement from the nickel mines, they moved back to Cherry Hill, NS. She was known for her "green thumb" and her love of animals, especially her cats. Her pride and joy was her family, for whom she was always there. Shirley is survived by her sons, Tim (Lisa G.) Vanderhoof, BC; Alan (Ingrid C.), First Peninsula; Jeffry (Linda B.), Cherry Hill; and daughters Cheryl Nowe; Jensen (Pete), Fredericton; and Melanie Conrad (Craig), East Port Medway; sister Corinne Bichard (Hal L.), Falconbridge, ON; 11 grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter. She was predeceased by her husband, Chester, in 2007; her stepmother Olga (Powers) Nauss in 2013; and her granddaughter Allison Nowe in 2017. Shirley's kind and generous nature will be dearly missed by all who's lives she touched. Her memorial service was held on November 6 at Middlewood United Church. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery, Cherry Hill. A gathering was held for family and friends at Cherry Hill Fire Hall.
