SWINIMER, Kim

2017-10-05

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kim Swinimer, age 57, Gold River, NS after a courageous battle with cancer. A loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he will be sadly missed. Kim is survived by his loving parents Fred and Carolyn Swinimer; the love of his life and devoted wife Belinda who stood by his side each and every day for the past 40 years; his children Chad Swinimer (Heather), Chester Basin and Chasity Mosher (Greg), Gold River; his grandchildren and the apples of his eye Cameron, Kera, Callie and Bria; his brothers Craig (Gold River) and Wade Swinimer (Halifax); his sisters Christine Swinemar and Gina Green (both of Western Shore); his 11 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews and many other family members and dear friends. Kim’s love of cars steered him towards a career in auto body repair and auto sales where he owned and ran Gold River Auto Sales for more than 30 years. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and spending time back in the woods cutting firewood with his father and son. But most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren who made him smile every time they walked in a room. Kim put up an admirable fight against a horrible disease but lost the battle with his family by his side. The care he received from the doctors and nurses at the Victoria General Hospital was exceptional and for that we are grateful. Family and friends can pay their respects at a reception to be held at the Western Shore Firehall on Wednesday, October 11th at 2:30 pm. No flowers at the request of the family but donations may be made to the QEII Health Sciences Centre or the Western Shore Fire Department.
