Age 94, formerly of Pentz, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017, in Hillside Pines Nursing Home, Bridgewater where she had been residing for the past five and half years. Born in Hermitage, NL, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Maria (Engram) Rose. Mary was an active member of St. Peter’s Anglican Church where she served with the altar guild for many years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and had made over fifty Swedish afghans for her relatives and friends, we all have one we will cherish in her memory. We all remember many enjoyable evenings playing cards with her and Dad. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine (John) Drummond, Crooked Lake; sons, Stanley (Priscilla) Parsons, Greenwood; Lawrence Parsons, Lawrencetown, Anna. Co.; grandchildren, Cindy, Lorne, Darrin, Denise, Carla, Amy, Scott, Kari-Lynne, Laurie, Cory; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Lindsay, Emily, Andrea, Larissa, Justin, Cassie, MacKenzie, Kendall, Rebecca, Emma, Evelyn and Marina; sisters-in-law, Susie Parsons, Halifax; Bessie Parsons, Bridgewater; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Cecil Parsons; son, Cecil in infancy; sister, Lucy (Jack) Squires; brothers, Frank (Mary) Rose, Maxwell (Rachel) Rose, Hickman (Francis) Rose, James (Una) Rose. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 31 in St. Peter’s Anglican Church, West LaHave with Rev. Oliver Osmond officiating with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West LaHave. A reception will follow in the Pleasantville Fire Hall, Pleasantville. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Anglican Church or Hillside Pines Nursing Home.
