MERSEY, Earl George “9 Man”

It is with great sadness that the family of Earl George “9 Man” Mersey, 62, of Bayport, announces his passing on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Lunenburg, on July 11, 1959, Earl was the son of the late Vernon George and Pauline Helen (Joudrey) Mersey.

Earl started his earlier career fishing and then went on to work for 42 years as an Electrician with HighLiner Foods, Lunenburg. In his spare time his love of the sea led him back to lobster fishing with his friend “Capt. Risser.”

He enjoyed times spent at home with his family and friends, walking with his beloved dog, Ginger, spending time at the camp, hunting and just enjoying the outdoors.

Earl is survived by daughter, Melissa (Chris) Berry, Middle LaHave; son, Matthew (Raebecca) Mersey, Rose Bay; special friend, Wendy Mersey (Ed), Bayport; grandchildren, Logan, Xander, Naliyah, Owen and Aria; brothers, Bruce, Bayport and Ivan, Bridgewater; mother-in-law, Carolyn Walsh, First South; goddaughter, Jay; nieces and nephew, Chris, Emily, Latoya and Sonia; aunt, Violet Zwicker; cousins, Rayburn and Marilyn Zinck, Vivian Webber, Charles Zwicker, Cliffy Zwicker, Sheila, Heather, Howard, David Jr. and Lisa and very special friends, Louise Hunt, Perry Fisher and “Earl’s Girls”, Julia and Krystal Nowe and many other wonderful friends too numerous to mention.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Highway 3, Lunenburg, and from where a memorial service to celebrate Earl’s life will be held on 2 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021. Interment will follow at the Feltzen South Cemetery.
