It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Viola Fraser, 95, of Martin’s Brook, announces her passing on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Crouse’s Settlement, Alice was the daughter of the late John and Ida (Zinck) Crouse. Alice lived a full and active life and in her early years taught school for three years in Pentz and later operated Fraser’s Canteen with her husband Doug for 17 years. Alice was a faithful member of Central United Church where she served as an elder and a member of the Margaret R Unit of the UCW. She also held memberships over the years with the FMH Ladies Auxiliary; an active supporter and member of the Progressive Conservative Party, the German Cultural Society and Lunenburg Folk Harbour Society. Alice was an active volunteer in the Veteran’s Unit of FMH and helped many families with her efforts to keep seniors in their homes in their final days with palliative care.
