It is with deep sadness that his family announce his unexpected passing on Monday, July 10th, 2017

Joe was born in Lunenburg, NS. He later moved to Campobello where he has resided ever since. Joe is the son of the late Jim & Jean (Slaunwhite), Howlett. A longtime resident of the island, Joe worked as a commercial fisherman with a passion for the sea. Surviving in addition to his wife Darlene is his sons Tyler (Tina) & Chad (Mallory). Grandchildren Haylee, Rylan and Mason. Brother in law Richard and wife Lori, sister in law Kathy and husband John. Nephews Christopher and wife Simone, Chase and wife Tabatha, Treigh and Jarvis. Mother & Father in law Manley & Brenda Brown. Joe is also survived by a large family of siblings from Lunenburg, NS. Sister Mary Ellen and husband David, brothers Doug, Tony and wife Cosette, Vernon and wife Elaine. Nieces and nephews, Christie, Pam, Jennifer, Bailey, Reagan, Andrew, Ryan, and Jimmy. Joe was predeceased by his brother David. Resting at Wilsons Beach United Baptist Church is where the funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 15th, at 2:00 pm. For those who may not be able to attend you will have live stream access through YouTube at wilsonsbeachbaptistchurch.org. In lieu of flowers donations in Joes’ memory can be made to the Wilsons Beach Baptist Church Fund, Edith Lank Camp Campobello or to just give a random act of kindness to someone else.
