Two drug impaired drivers arrested in separate incidents

Lunenburg RCMP reported February 12 that they arrested two drug-impaired drivers in a two-day span in early February.

On February 1 at 10 p.m., RCMP members responded to a single-vehicle collision in East LaHave, Lunenburg County.

The investigation led police to believe that the 17-year-old male driver was impaired by drugs. The driver failed to comply with the demand for a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluation.

He will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on February 28 at 11 a.m. where he will face impaired and refusal charges.

On February 2, a 53-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving. A DRE completed an evaluation and as a result, Elaine Delores Sarty of Bridgewater was charged with impaired driving.
