Single vehicle collision claims man’s life in Queens County

A man is dead after being ejected from a vehicle August 9 on Highway 103 in Port Mouton in Queens County.

Queens District RCMP say that at 4:53 a.m. they responded to a single vehicle collision. When police arrived on scene, they found an injured man in the passenger seat of the vehicle, and a deceased man who had been ejected from the vehicle and was on the ground near the car.

The passenger was being treated by EHS. He was later transported to hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries. The driver, a 31-year-old man from Beaver River, Digby County, died at the scene.

An RCMP collision analyst was called to the scene. Traffic was stopped in both directions in the area while police examined the scene for evidence, and no detour was available for the area.

The RCMP would like to thank motorists for their patience while police were on scene. The cause of the collision is under investigation although preliminary investigation has determined the vehicle left the roadway, struck some trees, then came to a stop in the ditch.
