Saltscapes Joins Metro Guide Publishing



Metro Guide Publishing and the Advocate Group of Companies announced a deal today that sees eastern lifestyle magazine, Saltscapes, join the Pictou-based publishing group. Details of the merger were not disclosed. No job losses are anticipated in the merger.

"Under the direction of Jim and Linda Gourlay, Saltscapes has branded Eastern Canada through compelling content, story-telling, creative collaboration and signature events. Through their content and their consumer shows, they have compelled a generation to eat, drink, shop and vacation locally," said Sean Murray, CEO of Metro Guide Publishing and the Advocate Group of Companies.

With the addition of Saltscapes, Metro Guide and Advocate will boast industry leading expertise in lifestyle, tourism, homes, arts and culture, entertainment, transportation, health, contract publishing, e-publishing, community journalism and events, according to a statement from Advocate.

The near term focus will be on sharing combined strengths with a focus on growth.

"Jim and Linda Gourlay have set themselves apart as national industry leaders and innovators. We are thrilled that they are joining the Advocate Family. Our collective focus will be on how to leverage our full portfolio of products, services, events and publications to capture, honour and promote our east coast community, culture and economy.
