The Region of Queens Municipality (RQM) has launched a new, online hub that provides residents access to information on issues that interest them, as well as an option to sign up for direct emails covering these as well.

On the site https://www.regionofqueens.com/engage-queens residents will find information about council, public meetings, planning matters, committee vacancies, job opportunities, tax sales, voting and more.

"This was initiated after a public hearing was held and there were some complaints that people didn't hear about it in a timely enough fashion," said RQM Mayor Darlene Norman. "Unless you were looking on our Region of Queens website all the time, you didn't know that some of these things were going on."

On the site, a quick click on a link will send you to the appropriate location on the RQM site for further information regarding a topic of interest.

Residents can also sign up to receive email alerts when new information is added.

"So if someone was interested in job opportunities in the region, they could click on that box, and every time a new job comes up they would get an email," said Norman.

However, the mayor emphasized it's not a site for emergency notices.

"This is just for things coming up in the community that people may want to participate in," said Norman.

Work on the new site was done in-house by staff at no extra costs to residents, she said.
