Police oversight agency probes alleged domestic incident originating from Queens County complaint

The province's independent police oversight agency is investigating an allegation of domestic assault against a member of the RCMP based on a complaint originating from a call to the Queens detachment on July 31.

The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) said no charges have been filed but the officer is slated to appear in Bridgewater court in September.

Queens district RCMP were notified by the spouse of the member about an alleged incident, SIRT said in an August 2 news release, and the matter was referred on.

SIRT said the investigation is continuing.
