The Region of Queens Municipality has a new top cop.

Queens District RCMP announced Staff Sergeant Dan Archibald as the new District Commander for the Region of Queens Municipality on May 24.

Archibald joined the RCMP in 2006 from Newfoundland and has worked as a general duty RCMP member in several locations throughout his 13-year career. He has been posted to six detachments in four different provinces: Norway House and Falcon Lake in Manitoba, Happy Valley - Goose Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador, Kindersley and Shaunavon in Saskatchewan, and Queens County, Nova Scotia.

He is pleased to put his broad policing experience to use in Queens County, which he is excited to now call home, RCMP said in a news release.

As District Commander, Archibald is looking forward to working with the communities of Queens County and getting to know the area, to understand its enforcement priorities and challenges.

"I look forward to building and maintaining relationships throughout the county and contributing to the great work that's already being done here," said Archibald.

"I'm originally from Newfoundland and Labrador, so being posted to Atlantic Canada is a dream come true for my family and I. We feel very fortunate to be posted to Liverpool, which is truly one of the most beautiful locations in Canada."
