Let the drum roll begin.
The businesses that are in the running for awards in their categories have now been named as finalists in this year's Lunenburg Queens Business Excellence Awards.
One business from each of six categories will be selected at the awards gala dinner March 5 at the Best Western Plus Bridgewater Hotel and Convention Centre.
LighthouseNOW is the print sponsor for the awards.
The awards committee, led by Shawn Allen, whittled down the finalists from 83 nominations that came in this year.
One of the interesting aspects of the awards is learning about new businesses in the area, said Allen.
"Every year I'm surprised at businesses I've never heard of."
Get the Scoop in Mahone Bay, Plaid Café in Liverpool and Fisherman's Picnic General Store are the three finalists in the New Business category.
As in previous years, local videographer Dante Damiani will be preparing video clips with information about each business finalist.
"He always does a fresh video presentation during the awards. I know he's got something slightly different planned for this year," hinted Allen.
Meanwhile, he said, ticket sales are "rapid" and he's been taking bookings every day.
"I expect a full house again this year as usual," said Allen.
