Lunenburg District RCMP reported on July 30 there is an investigation into a death in Maplewood, after they responded to a report of a deceased man found on the side of Gilbert Road on July 28 at 1:40 p.m.

Paramedics were also dispatched and once they arrived it was determined that the man had been there, deceased, for a couple of hours. He was not able to be revived, according to a media release issued by the RCMP.

A resident of the area was said to have found the remains.

"RCMP members secured the scene and began a canvass of the area, checking with residents in the area to determine the man's identity," noted the release.

RCMP investigators were said to have later determined that there had been no obvious foul play preceding the man's death. A tentative identification was made shortly afterward.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner's Office is assisting with the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted, and will assist in the ongoing investigation, according to the RCMP.
