Lucy the Lobster to predict the coming of spring

In a twist on Groundhog Day, Lucy the Lobster will kick off the first annual South Shore Lobster Crawl by emerging from the Atlantic Ocean and predicting whether or not spring will arrive.

"Shubenacadie Sam we're putting you on notice," the South Shore Tourism Cooperative warned in a media advisory.

Lucy, a 19-inch long lobster that weighs six and a half pounds, currently resides in the spa at Capt. Kat's Lobster Shack, in preparation for her big day.

Caught by the Captain Tyler Nickerson and his crew aboard Chas'n Rac'n earlier this week, they saw something special in her. So did Xsealant Seafood Company, the official supplier of lobster to Capt. Kat's and they brought her to them for this very special assignment on Feb. 2.

When Lucy crawls from the ocean and looks for her shadow, the crustacean will kick off the inaugural South Shore Lobster Crawl Feb 2 – 19, 2019.

Lucy looks for her shadow on Friday, February 2, at 8 a.m. on the Cape Sable Island Causeway in Barrington. The address is 33 McGray Avenue, North East Point, Cape Sable Island
