A Liverpool restaurant closed and the Queens Manor home for special care shut down visitation following a post by the Liverpool Pizzeria & Lounge on its Facebook page March 31.

In a statement on its page, the pizzeria, which is located on Liverpool's Main Street, announced it would be closing after its director tested positive for COVID-19.

The Queens Manor Facebook page indicated that, "out of an abundance of caution," it also closed its doors to visitation beginning on April 1. This was to be re-evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

The post on the pizzeria's site explained that the director returned from a trip through Toronto's Pearson International Airport on March 15. He had a COVID-19 test performed on him and quarantined for three days as required.

On March 17, he received a negative COVID-19 test result and subsequently boarded a flight to Halifax the next day.

He was picked up by his wife at the Halifax airport and began his 14-day isolation.

On March 25 he carried out another test via COVID-19 At Home Specimen Collection and sent in the sample to be tested. Late on March 30 he was notified the sample was positive.

The business was closed the next day to enable staff to undergo COVID-19 tests because the director's wife had picked him up from the airport and later had contact with the restaurant staff.

While awaiting results from the tests the business will remain closed, according to its post.

Queens Manor Executive Director Andrew MacVicar thanked the pizzeria for being up-front about the situation.

"We wish this person well and a quick and successful recovery," MacVicar commented in the in the post. "We also commend the business for their transparency and the community-mindedness for so quickly sharing this information."

Meanwhile, according to its social media post, the care facility wants "to ensure there is no community spread in the region of Queens before we open our doors to visitors again."
