The Queens District RCMP is requesting public assistance in two recent thefts where 1,200 pounds of lobster was stolen in two separate incidents.

The thefts occurred in the early morning of December 23 and January 1 from the lobster pounds on Long Cove Road.

In the December 23rd theft, the suspect may have used a small boat that was pulled up on shore near the pound.

Cpl. Jennifer Clarke, warns others to take extra precaution.

"This happened twice in a short period of time," she said. "If a person was interested in putting up a trail camera near their property where valuable commodities are being stored, it is probably a good idea. We certainly encourage that."

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to contact Queens District RCMP detachment 902-354-5721. Should you wish to remain anonymous call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.

Both investigations are ongoing.
