SHAID Tree Animal Shelter

We have jumped into 2023 with all hands on deck here at SHAID Tree Animal Shelter and are hoping this will be the best year yet.

In January alone we have secured 68 routine spay and neuter appointments (most of these are designated for our late summer and fall "Foster to Adopt" kittens, who are reaching the age of maturity) and a full dental surgery for our dear Mrs. Daisy, a beautiful 12-year-old female cat whose owner recently passed away.

We are so thrilled to have the ongoing support of Nova Veterinary Clinic, Oakland Veterinary Clinic, Chester Basin Animal Hospital, and Petite Pet Hospital. Thank you!

Our first fundraiser of 2023 is our annual Have a Heart Campaign, which kicked off Jan. 17 in honour of Betty White's birthday and runs through until Valentine's Day on Feb. 14. You may remember last year's "Betty White Challenge" which benefited animal shelters and rescues all over the world as a celebration of life for White after she passed away a few weeks shy of her 100th birthday.

You'll start seeing little hearts popping up at local businesses and you can make a small donation to have your own heart to dedicate to a loved one or in memory of a cherished pet. To find out more, check it out on social media (SHAID Tree Animal Shelter) or our website: shaidanimalshelter.com.

As a not-for-profit animal shelter, fundraising is so important, especially where we receive no government funding and rely solely on community support and our own fundraising efforts. Medical care and life-saving surgeries are becoming more and more expensive, as is everything from cat food to cleaning supplies.

We are so passionate about animals and nothing beats the feeling of knowing you're helping save little lives. We are fueled by knowing the more effort we put into raising awareness and fundraising, the more animals we can help.

We want to thank you, our amazing community, for your ongoing support over the years. All donations, big or small, are so gratefully needed and appreciated, whether it be monetary or everyday items like kitten kibble, canned cat food, wood pellets, Javex, cleaning supplies and office supplies.
