HVAC system to be upgraded at Queens General

The Queens General Hospital in Liverpool is receiving an HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) upgrade.
The tender was posted in the fall by the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and was awarded to Buildon Construction Limited of New Minas toward the end of last year. The project is worth $1,546,321.
"The intent of the project is to upgrade the ventilation to and within the emergency department at Queens General Hospital," Carla Adams, the NSHA's senior advisor, media relations, told LighthouseNOW in an email.
The work will replace an end-of-life unit and increase supply to the hospital's emergency department, which did not have enough cooling.
The goal is to have the work done by summer 2022, however, Adams indicated "the timeline is dependent on a number of factors such as COVID-19 delays."
