Government commits $4.8 million toward pair of Lunenburg County projects

Wastewater system upgrades in Bridgewater and a contaminated soil clean-up at a former school in Bayport each received funding commitments August 1 from Ottawa and the province.

For the Main Street of the South Shore, it amounts to $4 million toward replacing a pumping station and installing 1,000 metres worth of piping.

Meanwhile, the former Riverport and district Elementary School land, off Highway 332, will be subject to a remediation project as contaminants found on site will be removed. This project receives just shy of $795,000.

The promises of taxpayer cash were made during a news conference in Bridgewater.
