Food for thought

Students at the Centre scolaire de la Rive-Sud got a good taste of the Christmas spirit this season.

Grade 3 students at the French school in Cookville, Lunenburg County, organized a food drive for the local food bank in Bridgewater for the second year in a row.

"We were able to deliver over 4500 items on Wednesday. Mme Ginette's grade 2 class won the pizza party by contributing over 1300 items. Bravo!!!!" the school reported on social media December 16.

As well, students and staff at the school were treated to a Christmas dinner, compliments of the South Shore Community Centre, Mahone Bay's Mateus Bistro and the Old Black Forest Restaurant on Highway 3 outside of Lunenburg.

"We would like to thank the staff members who delivered the meals to the classrooms, and the local community for all their generous donations which made this event possible," the school reported on Facebook December 18.
