Drugs seized in traffic stop, charges laid



Three people from Lunenburg County are expected in court today to face charges of drug trafficking.

The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, assisted by the Lunenburg County District RCMP General Investigation Section and Criminal Intelligence Service of Nova Scotia, conducted a traffic stop on Camperdown School Road in Middlewood before 6 p.m. on August 30.

Police seized a quantity of cocaine, cash, and a can of bear spray. All three suspects were taken into custody and are expected in Bridgewater Provincial Court on September 1 at 9:30 a.m.

Kandice Darlene Regan, 31, of Hebbville has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four counts of breach of recognizance.

Autumn Dawn Roy, 25, of Middlewood has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and trafficking cocaine.

Michael Rene Kelley, 24, of Bridgewater has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Regan and another co-accused plead not guilty in May to charges of assault, breaking and entering, and committing an indictable offence related to a Lunenburg home invasion on New Year's Day. Their trial is set for September.

The South Shore Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit consists of members from the RCMP and the Bridgewater Police Service.
