The ice rink, pool, and library mega-complex in Bridgewater is shutting down due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre (LCLC), off North Park Street, is temporarily suspending services and closing to the public, starting on St. Patrick's Day. Memberships and monthly passes are frozen until public access is restored.

"Public safety and minimizing the impacts of COVID-19 in our community is our greatest focus and responsibility at this point," the facility said in a online message which also apologized for the inconvenience.

Over the weekend, the LCLC announced suspending of member activities at the facility, such as yoga, dance and aqua-fit classes.

The South Shore Public Libraries branch at the LCLC - and all others - are closing at 5 p.m. March 16.

The closure will be re-assessed after last three-weeks.

"All electronic services are available. eBooks and eAudio books, for all ages and reading skills, can be downloaded using our two electronic formats Libby and CloudLibrary," South Shore Public Libraries announced in an online message.

"All loan periods for books and items have been to May 1. Don't worry about returning your books while we're closed, however, all book drops will be open.
