Chester firefighters summoned for Sherwood rescue

A fisherman in his 50s needed help getting to higher ground after an apparent slip-and-fall from a ledge in Sherwood near the Nova Scotia Power dam, off Highway 14.

It's believed he fell during the early evening of May 29, but RCMP, paramedics and Chester volunteer firefighters weren't notified until nearly 1 a.m., May 30. Reports from the scene indicated the man fell down a five-metre embankment onto the ground below.

The man was taken by ambulance to South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater for further treatment.

It's believed injuries to his head and ribs were not life-threatening.
