SHAID Tree Animal Shelter

Weather-wise, it was a beautiful summer, and here at SHAID it was an especially busy one again.

As of the end of August, we have taken in 321 cats and 32 dogs, along with several rabbits and a few guinea pigs too.

We have been working hard, caring for all these precious babies and helping them find loving homes.

Because of the huge rise in pet ownership over the last few years, vet clinics have felt an increased strain and have become short-staffed as a result. We met Dr. Emily Black, DVM, back in early 2021, and she quickly became a regular as our volunteer shelter veterinarian.

Our goal is to renovate a small part of our shelter to house a surgical suite. This would allow us to help even more homeless animals, increase our Trap-Neuter-Release program, and help more low-income people in our community get their pets spayed and neutered.

We are back with our 2022 SHAID Tree Lottery to help raise funds for the animals we care for.

First prize is $25,000; second is a 2023 Honda 420 ATV, and third prize is a $500 shopping spree at Giant Tiger. Only 4,000 tickets ($30 each or two for $50) will be sold between the dates of Sept. 1 - Nov. 30, 2022, with the draw happening Dec. 1.

You can pick up your tickets at Giant Tiger, Shur-Gain Feeds 'n Needs, Bridgewater Honda Powerhouse, Sobeys Bridgewater, Sobeys Liverpool, and here at SHAID Tree Animal Shelter. You can also order them over the phone by calling 902-543-4849.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support, whether it be by donating much-needed items like dry kitten kibble and canned cat food, monetary donations, volunteering your time, doing your own fundraiser for SHAID, or even grabbing a ticket in support of our SHAID Tree Lottery!
