A Bridgewater woman, 28, is facing impaired driving charges after a single vehicle accident at 12:30 a.m. on November 28.
The woman's vehicle left the road, struck an utility pole and came to rest in the adjacent water of Spectacle Lakes. A passing motorist entered the water, pulled the driver out through the passenger side, and went to a nearby residence for help.
When members of the Lunenburg District RCMP arrived on the scene and spoke to the driver, they determined that she was impaired and arrested her. She was transported to cells and held in custody until sober.
The woman, who was not identified, is facing charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg per cent. She was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on January 17, 2018.
The investigation is ongoing.
