Bridgewater Police Service now in the auto sales business - no, not at all

Bridgewater's police department now uses its social media presence as an avenue into the auto sales business in an effort to help boost future operating budgets.

Nah, it's nothing like that.

It was an honest mistake from someone who works for the agency who wanted to unload an aging sport-utility vehicle and erroneously linked his online advertisement to the police department's official Twitter page.

The unusual social media post came the night of August 6.

The post went public at about 6:17 p.m. and showed a 1999 Lexus RX300 was available for sale via Kijiji. A closer look, after clicking the link, indicated the Lunenburg County Kijiji user was offering the all-wheel drive for the asking price of $3,700. The vehicle has about 233,500 kilometres on it, by the way.

Police Chief Scott Feener took down the message, which remained online for about an hour, after LighthouseNOW contacted him about the head-scratcher of a post.
