BPS update on fugitive

by Gayle Wilson

The fugitive Tobias Charles Doucette was still at large, as of an update issued by the Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) at 10:30 p.m. on July 24.

The release reported that in the afternoon of July 24, the BPS and RCMP responded to a possible sighting of Doucette in the area of Glen Allan Drive in Bridgewater. Afterward there was a second possible sighting in the area of Hollingsworth Drive. "Police believe these sightings were credible," stated the news release.

"Police established a perimeter around the search area and attempted to locate Doucette into the evening hours, but were unable to do so. Bare foot prints were located in the search area adding to the credibility of the tips," it continued.

The police service reported on Twitter earlier in the evening that a "thorough search of the area was conducted and police are now departing the scene and the area is open."

The 31-year-old Doucette is arrestable for attempted murder and assault. He's described as 6'2", 220 lbs. and having brown hair and green eyes. At last confirmed sighting, he was wearing black shorts, no shirt and no shoes.

The BPS is reminding the public to remain aware that Doucette has not been located and is asking anyone who has any information on his whereabouts to call their local police agency immediately. The public is also reminded not to approach him.
